Over 60% of the population lives under the poverty line in Zambia. Despite Zambia having one of the world's fastest growing economies, it remains one of the world's poorest countries. Currently, close to 64% of Zambians live under $2 a day and the majority of those who earn more barely make ends-meet.

Housing for the poor is often difficult to access and afford, leaving families to fend for themselves in dirty slums, makeshift shanties, and on unsafe streets. Maboshe Memorial Centre (MMC) launched a project that will see the construction of 3 bed roomed houses for poor people across Western province, Zambia.

The "Donate Building Resources" is a financial & material resource fundraising initiative campaign for the Maboshe Memorial Centre (MMC) which bring individual well wishers, business houses and other sponsors to donate free building materials and financial to support the building project across Western province, Zambia, the project will see the construction of more than 100,000 decent houses for the poor people.

The project which has partnered with the government. This is a project that provides houses for children who are parentless or otherwise vulnerable due to sickness, often being taken care of by an extended family member or another care. This noble campaign sound a clarion call to action on delivering decent housing for all the poor and vulnerable people. This project demonstrates that with unity of purpose, and commitment, one brick at a time, decent housing can be achieved for all.

Need for decent housing, both in urban and rural areas, keeps growing because of the increasing population, adding that international human rights law recognizes every person's right to decent housing. We believe that every man, woman and child should have a safe and affordable place to call home.
